What This Site Is
Some people discover the Carolina coast on a vacation and fall in love with it.
I never had to discover it. It’s always just been home, having lived here all my life.
I grew up with salt air and the sound of waves as my backdrop. Weekend trips to the beach weren’t a luxury; they were just life. I learned to spot shark teeth and the best shells before I learned to ride a bike. Know which stretches of the Outer Banks feel completely wild even in the middle of summer, and which South Carolina beach towns are worth the drive when you want something a little more polished. I know the difference between a good seafood shack and a great one.
That’s what Explore Carolina Beaches is built on, not algorithms or sponsored lists, but a genuine, lifelong love for this stretch of coastline.

Who We Are
Explore Carolina Beaches is a one-person operation, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
Every article, every guide, every recommendation on this site comes from me, Tony, someone who actually lives here, actually visits these beaches, and actually cares whether your trip turns out great. There’s no content farm behind the curtain. No listicles written by someone who’s never left the office. Just honest, firsthand knowledge from a North Carolinian who has spent a lifetime exploring both sides of the state line.
Whether I’m writing about the best family rentals on Oak Island, the hidden gems tucked between Myrtle Beach and Charleston, or the gear worth packing for a week on the Outer Banks, my goal is always the same: give you the kind of advice you’d get from a friend who actually knows this coast and wants you to love it just as much as I do.
What You’ll Find Here
Explore Carolina Beaches is built like a magazine, there’s always something new to read, discover, or shop.
- Articles & Guides — In-depth coverage of beaches, towns, and travel tips up and down the Carolina coast, from Corolla to Hilton Head and everywhere in between.
- Beach Recommendations — Honest takes on where to go, what to skip, and how to make the most of wherever you land. I even throw in a favorite restaurant of mine along the way.
- Coastal Gear & Apparel — Carefully chosen products designed for people who take their beach time seriously. Everything in the shop is something I’d actually use or wear, except the bikinis, of course.
- Travel Inspiration — Because sometimes you just need someone to remind you that a long beach weekend is exactly what you need.
Why North Carolina
I’m a North Carolina person through and through.
There’s something about this coastline that never gets old, the way the barrier islands shift and change with the seasons, the wild horses up in Corolla, the quiet that settles over Ocracoke on a weekday morning, the feeling of crossing onto Hatteras Island with nothing but dunes and open sky ahead of you.
I love South Carolina too, Folly Beach has personality for days, and Hilton Head is genuinely one of the most beautiful places on the East Coast. But North Carolina is where my heart is, and I think that shows in the writing.
